True to Me: Always

How does a person stay true to themselves?
Personally, this is a question that I do ask myself frequently. Life is big and it presents us with so many choices that it is actually quite difficult to stay true to oneself. I don't wanna get lost in all these things, all these people who I encounter everyday.
I want 'ME' to remain, the Millie that I have always known must remain even after everything else is gone.
Staying true to oneself involves, finding oneself first.
What things do you believe in?
What excites you or makes your heart tick?
I am not my body but I am a soul that gets uplifted by certain things.
These things nourish my soul and this is who I am.
For me, love, peace, joy, stillness and everything that makes me smile, a smile that comes from deep inside, that's who I am.
This is who I want to preserve.
Staying true means that I only engage in those activities that bring out this smile,
Those things that nourish my soul and uplift it to greater heights.
Helping people not for the sake of it, but to touch their lives,
Establishing connections and keeping them open.
This is what staying true means to me.
Living from the deepest part of my heart and keeping in touch with my soul.
Hope you stay true to yourself.

I cannot Control Others

As mentioned in previous posts, there are certain beliefs that guide me thru life. One that I have discovered lately is that I am only responsible for my own thoughts, words and actions. Even if I go back to the moon and back, I can never control another person's thoughts, words and actions.
I know this, but I still allow another person's actions to influence my moods and happiness. I know sometimes, it is difficult to just be open about our feelings and our mistakes but today am gonna be vulnerable and expose my feelings.
Over the last couple of weeks, Mr b/f has really been acting weird and all crazy on me. Usually, it reaches a point where I just wanna talk and tell him all that is going on in my head. We then hold a meeting, where I do almost all the talking and at the very end, he says that he knows he is wrong and that he will put in more effort to make things better. We then go to sleep and the next day is as if nothing happened. Things get back to normal and its just like before we had the talk. Two days later, he does something that makes me angry and I cry, usually after he leaves for work. In the evening, we talk about it, he acts as if nothing happened and does not even apologize. The apology only comes when I ask about the same thing later. It has now become a cycle where I am only waiting for something else to happen, I cry, we talk and everything goes back to the way it was. I hate this situation and I know I deserve better.
However, one thing that I have realized is that I always hope that he will change and that he will show more willingness towards making things better. When he does not change, I then try to make him change by trying to treat him so nicely just to see if he will reciprocate.
But now am done, I have finally accepted that I cannot control his actions and that I cannot make him do something he does not want to do. Maybe he just does not want this to work or this is who he is. So, I accept it and I will not try to make him change any more. This does not mean that I do not love and care for him. In fact, I do, very much and this is why I will accept his choices. And then choose how I want to proceed with my life from there.
I have come to know that, we must always give the other person the freedom to make their own choices and if their choices do not make us happy, then we have a choice to make too. Look for something else or stay and accept that this is the person they have become.
I accept that I cannot change my boyfriend and I am not in any way responsible for the choices he makes. I am only responsible for my own choices.

Moderation

When it comes to life, we are told that most of the time, it is good to act in moderation. This usually means that we have to avoid the extremes and focus on staying in the middle ground, not too high and not too low.
However, I believe that moderation can only apply to certain situations and certain people. Additionally, some kinds of extremes are good.
Take drinking for example, here moderation is highly required. One should never drink too much especially if they are a lady like me because embarrassing ourselves is the last thing we want to do. Eating is another thing that must be taken in moderation. Eating either too much or too little has its disadvantages.
When it comes to feelings and expression of emotions, moderation is difficult to exercise. Love for example, when does moderation come into play? Should a person hold their emotions just to show that they are exrecising moderation.
In general, moderation is a difficult thing to exercise but if we are conscious of our actions then we can choose areas where moderation works to our advantage.

Fortunate

for·tu·nateAdjective/ˈfôrCHÉ™nit/

1. Favored by or involving good luck or fortune; lucky.
2. Auspicious or favorable

I have to say that I am fortunate,
To be her today,
To have a laptop, electricity, and internet,
Knowing that there are millions of people who do not even know what a computer is leave alone owning one.
Am fortunate to be literate, to be able to express myself through writing and read what others say about themselves.

I am fortunate to have both my eyes working properly,
I know there are millions of blind people who keep enjoying life even when they cannot see.
Yet I sometimes take my eyesight for granted.
I am fortunate that I can hear,
Oh the sweet sounds of music which sometimes irritate me even when there are people who have never had the ability to hear anything.

I am fortunate that I can walk, jog and even run with both my legs,
There are people who cannot wake up from their beds or their seats.
I am fortunate that I can use both of my hands and yet sometimes I just want them to rest and I complain of how tired they are,
Yet there are people who wish they had them just to make tired for a day.

I am fortunate to be alive today,
knowing that thousands died today.
I am fortunate, Auspicious and favorable because I am a blessed girl and I appreciate it everyday.
This post is dedicated to all of you who are alive today because you are fortunate too and you should always cherish it, no matter what happens.
Love you all.

TMI Tuesday

Join for TMI Tueday here

1. If a screenwriter turned you into a character in a movie,
a. What stock Hollywood character would it be most like? For example: best friend, ditzy blonde, absent-minded professor, captain of industry, etc.
I am more of  a bestfriend who sometimes hides the truth to protect the said friend.
b. What actor/actress would play you?
Recently, I have been watching brothers and sisters and i think, Kitty Waker would be a perfect role for me.

2. What genre of movie is your life most like? For example: romantic comedy, goofball comedy, spy, coming of age, action/adventure, sci-fi, etc
Ooooh, definitely, a Romantic Comedy because my life pretty much revolves around such stories and they are my favorite kind of movies.

3. What kind of scene in a movie would you like to play most? Why?
a. Argument
b. Love scene
c. Gun fight
d. High-speed car chase
Argument, where I get to throw expensive plates and cups on the wall. I always liked that but I have never done it.

4. Have you ever looked around you and thought “this is like a scene from a movie”? What were the circumstances?
Yes! During my housewarming party where everyone was having fun and getting drunk while I was bored and lonely.

5. Have you ever looked at a character in a movie and said, “Hey, that could be me”? Who/what was the character?
In he Back-Up Plan, the character that J-Lo plays. I could totally do that if am alone and old and wanting to have a baby.

Bonus: Have you ever been in pictures–Hollywood film, porno, homemade video, or other type of film? Tell us about it. …and is it on YouTube
Never.

Keep On Walking

Source: etsy.com via Miriah on Pinterest

Am walking,
Downhill, its really easy,
I walk smiling, laughing, giggling even,
There's a sprint in my walk and i feel as if am flying,
People on this route are also smiling,
It seems that everyone is enjoying themselves.
Then I get to the bridge,
Some kind of fear grips me as I know the uphill walk will be difficult,
As I start the walk, I motivate myself,
A few smiles can be seen,
But it gets harder and harder,
Am thirsty, hungry even,
I contemplate going back and just enjoying the downhill walk,
But I can see the peak and my heart tells me that I must get up there.
So what do I do,
I keep on walking,
The muscle aches, the hunger and the thirst won't stop me,
Finally, I reach the top and I breathe a sigh of relief.
Here, all the goodness I can imagine is handed to me,
I love the taste of vistory and that is why I will keep on walking,
No matter what.
