Me, Myself & I: Part II

Hey lovely people??Hope your weekend has been awesome. Am down with a cold since Sunday but am hoping to get better soonest. I have something crazy and traumatizing I want to tell you but that will have to wait until tomorrow. Come back and see. However, for today, I would love for you to get to know me better. Last time I participated in this link-up, I was very excited to learn more about other bloggers so Part two would not pass me by!Lets see how I do this time:

1. What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
If I totally knew I would not fail, I would start my own bakery. And, I would not attempt to do it,I would do it wholeheartedly. Yeah, I said it. I was a little afraid of admitting it but I would. And then expand it to a cooking school. I would entertain all kinds of crazy cooking ideas from innovators and I would enjoy learning and teaching in the school. I would also make the school such that girls and boys from poor families could get in free as long as they were passionate about food and cooking. I would also go to school and learn more about photography and create a cooking website. Finally, I would enjoy doing it all!

2. If you had only six moths left to live, what would you do with the time?
Six months????I would just take my hubby and we would travel around the world. I have always wanted to go to Italy and that would be the first place. We would also go around Europe and the U.S. In the last three months, we would come back to Africa and tour the many beautiful country’s here. Finally, we would land in Kenya, take our family and friends and tour our beautiful country, enjoying each other’s company as much as possible.

3. If a front page news article was written of you, what would the headline be?
Top Kenyan food blogger talks to Oprah about optimism, love and enjoying life…

4. What is your biggest pet peeve?
This has to be pride. I mean, I like people who are proud of their achievements but when pride comes to showing off and shoving people around, it does bother me. Humility always clicks in with me. I love people who can talk to anyone and do not classify themselves or others.

5.What is your favorite chick flick movie?

I love chick flicks. It is hard to pick one so here is the list: The Vow, Dear John, The Back Up Plan, This Means War. And everything involving Reese Witherspoon or Channing Tatum.

Am a Sunset Person..

Are you a sunrise or a sunset person???Have you ever thought about it??I have not but I already know that am more of an evening person. Therefore, given the chance to choose between sunsets and sunrises, I'd definitely choose sunsets. Don't get me wrong, I love sunrises, just that you have to leave some very warm covers to experience them. Sunsets are easier, they signify transformation of day into night. And I love the peace that they bring. Am an easy kind of person though I always seem to make the harder choices.
In honor of beautiful sunsets such as the one above {which I got to experience on Tuesday}, here is a collection of outfits I would love to wear. Enjoy.

Pillow Talk + Thankful Thursdays

So, since my big news here, I've been thinking about ways to spice up the house. I think it needs a pop of color since it seems kinda plain. And plain is not me, neither should it be you. So, I got thinking of solutions to a plain house. And then I opened Polyvore, my favorite website and I found some things that will definitely solve the problem. And that is why am crushing really hard on these pillows. The collection is amazing and I cannot even begin to tell you how hard it was to make a choice on which pillows to share with you. I love me some pattern and some color too and this is what I chose. Thank God, I don't have to consider the price when making boards on Polyvore.
I really totally love the blue one, with flowers on it. It is so gorgeous and such a fun color. I also love the ones with a pop of yellow or orange. Which ones are your favorite??

Oh, and now to some of the things am thankful for:
1. The internet, otherwise how would I be able to communicate with you sweethearts while you are miles and miles away. Love you by the way.
2.My Hubby. He makes me giddy inside and I cant help but laugh at all his crazy jokes. I do adore him actually.
3. My Sister. She is pretty, she is fun, she is awesome and she cooks and cleans my house for me {sometimes.}What more could I ask for?
4. My family, I love you all, so much.
5. Blogging. It feels so good these days and I love how we all connect, at one level or another. This is despite all our cultural, religious, emotional and all kinds of differences. Wish the world was more like Blogosphere.
6. Food. Read my post here and you will understand why.
All in all, am hoping you are having a blast this week!

Am Obsessed, I Clearly Need Help

People, I think am sick. Ok, that's a little too much but I really do think that am catching something. Have you heard of any epidemics I should be ware of?
Sorry for scaring the crap out of you but it is really difficult to not say these things when I think I'm infected.
With food. Yeah, you read that right, am currently obsessed with food. All kinds of foods. Oh, and well some lots of cooking. I don't know where this bug came from but I have definitely been bitten. I think I have food fever. More like, am sure I have it. You know like when we bloggers say we have baby fever and can't stop thinking about babies and their cuteness, am like that with food. My appetite has soared but more so, my thoughts about food have increased too.
Via
Am currently finding all sorts of food inspiration. I have found several Kenyan food blogs and I want to cook all the meals they have ever posted. Like this one and this one. There are many more that am currently reading.

Am totally going crazy people and I need help. However, before you help, here are some facts about me:
1. I have always loved cooking, I have even written about my love for the kitchen here.
2. I don't own an oven. I wanted to point that out since most of the recipes I find have to be baked and I also kind of have an obsession for baked stuff.
3. I eat a lot!Am 5 ft and 48kg (105.8lbs) which am kind of ashamed of. Its a little on the downside and my mama does not like that. In fact, my hubby encourages me to eat more, sometimes even more than his portion. Weird right?
4. I have always felt an incline/calling towards food and sometimes I think that I should venture into the food businesses. (this is my little secret)
There you have it. I need help. Oh and before you go, I just wanted to tell you that last night I cooked pancakes, rice and bean stew for dinner.
Loved it!The pancakes were meant for breakfast but we ate some during dinner.Hubby chose to add some avocado pieces to his plate. (He loves avocados, too much I think)
Anyway, hope you can ease my obsession by giving me ideas of how I can nurture this desire!
Bon Appetit!!!

Sales & Marketing is Hard: A Weekend Update

I swear, that title is not meant to scare anyone. I just had to say it out loud since it is kind of what I experienced. My weekend was one busy one. I enjoyed it anyways and also learnt some lessons that I never expected to ever learn.
Lesson learnt:
Sales and marketing is hard. very hard. On Friday and Saturday, I was helping out a friend who was organizing an event by handing out flyers to people in my town. This experience made me respect all those people who go out there with a product aiming to sell it.
Approaching people and just giving them flyers seemed like an easy task. But, then started the weird looks, the people who didn't even want to look at me, the ones who assumed that I was trying to sell them something and wanted nothing to do with me and the most weird ones, who wanted my number (like really weird guys hitting on me). It was interesting though and there were some nice people, who would kindly take the flyers, inquire about the event and make me feel comfortable with what I was doing. I smiled a lot, talked a lot and just let myself be vulnerable. This was a good lesson for me and I have a new respect for salespersons.

On Saturday, I also did laundry and some cleaning in the house. I always feel some kind of laziness before I start cleaning but after am through, I always feel so much better. It feels like I have accomplished something. And I appreciate myself for that.

Sunday, I slept in and woke up at around 11 am. I love Sundays because I get to relax and rest. That is mostly the reason why I try to get all my weekend cleaning done on Saturday. Oh, and I also watched The Hunger Games and I loved it.

And to finish it all up, I love this dog. Super cute and very playful, always makes my day.
Wishing you a lovely week!!

Gingham on Friday Fancies

Hi Friday, totally missed you. So happy you are here. Hope you can stay a while. Thank you.
Gingham: that's what I am trying to style today. I love patterned clothes, therefore, I found an outfit that is both wearable and very comfortable. This outfit can be worn to work and can easily be transformed to an evening outfit. I actually like it a lot.  Now, only if it were in my closet, I would wear it to a function am attending today!

I love the style and the colors and the skirt and the top and everything else. Hope you like it too.

Current Crush: Maxi Dresses

If you really knew me, then you would know that am super short. Yes, I am and am proud of it!!However, the problem with my height is that wearing long dresses or skirts is kinda difficult.
Problem no. 1: Finding my size is total mayhem
Problem no. 2: I look weird in long, flowy kind of clothing
Problem no. 3: Because am also kind of skinny, I get lost in these kinds of clothing. For real, it looks like the dress is walking with no-one inside!!{ghosts!!}And then people start running and screaming. (digression)
Anyhow, blogging has given me the platform to search and swoon for amazing clothes that I would never rarely wear in real life. I believe, this is the first step in finding the courage to wear these clothes, for reals.
In this breath, I would like to introduce to my latest finds and crushes over at Polyvore.
Drum roll please.........{The Maxi Dresses}
I love each and one of these. But my absolute fav is the second on the bottom row. I also discovered that I prefer patterned/flowered maxis as opposed to solid colored ones. I told ya, blogging has helped me discover who I "really" am. Tell me people, do you wear maxi dresses!
Which ones do you like in this set????

If You Really Knew Me

First, thank you to all the ladies who have written such posts. The idea is awesome and makes it easier for us to get to know each other on a more personal level.
Here we go....
If you really knew me:
...you would know that I was a very quiet and shy girl while growing up. However, that has changed dramatically over the past few years. I can now easily speak up and mingle with people from anywhere.
...you would know that I am sometimes afraid of letting people into my real life issues. I fear that I may be overburdening them.

...you would know that I love family so much. All kinds of families, to be clear, and I want to start mine asap.
..you would know that I love kids a lot and they seem to love me as well. It is very difficult to find a child that hates me!!!{mainly because I love running around and making fun}
...you would know that am very easy going. I am the first on the dance floor and my friends usually count on me to shake up a party.

...you would know that I try to be charming though I think I fail in most attempts. My love {L} is very charming and I try to copy his skills but I can't.

...you would know that I can never let go of things and people am attached to. I have a phone I bought four years ago and I cannot seem to let it go. I just want to hold onto what I know, what feels comfortable, you know???I hope you do know, because if you don't, then I don't know where this world is headed. {I digress}

...you would know that I fall in love very easily. I trust easily too and I always think that everyone is good until proven otherwise .

...you would know that I am 100% optimist. I feel bad when people are negative, I wanna beat sense into them but that wouldn't be too good, would it?.
...you would know that I never, ever give up. Ever! I always know that things will fall into place perfectly and they always have. {Even when it doesn't look too good}

Letters to my future husband #7

First, big news!!Me and the b/f are now living together! We are more than b/f- girlfriend. We have been together for over five years and it just felt right. This is it people, me and him are a forever thing!! And so this letter is meant for him and I hope that I can write more of these just for him.

Dear L,
Hi honey. First off, I have to say thank you. Thank you because you have shown me what it is like to love. Five years!!!5 freaking years,,and we are still together. When I first met you, I thought that it was just a campus thingy but we outgrew that. We have fought and broken up a few times. We have been through a lot, and by a lot: I mean a whole lot more than we could have ever imagined.

However, what I treasure most about our thingy is how we make each other laugh. You are funny and crazy. Your jokes crack me up! Even when am mad, it is very hard not to laugh at your crazy jokes. It makes it awkward for me to make a serious point or even be mad at you for more than a heartbeat. You must be very proud of that!!But, I hate that you like to startle me, something that am totally afraid of!

Baby, you make it easy for me to love you. You make it so much fun. You make me feel like a 3 year old. I can talk about anything with you. Whether its new businesses or crazy PMS. I love that I can be crazy, I can be myself around you! And you love me for who I am.
I do feel happy and honored to be with you!
Love you pumpkin, sweetpie, honey, darling, watermelon, sugar, and any other cute names you might think of!!
Always, M.

Ok, people, hope you have collected yourself after my big news. Its been 5 days now of living together and its been awesome, except the double amount of laundry.Anyway, I hope you are having a fabulous week and an amazing August!!
